Words Of Life And Health

20 My son, give attention to my words; Incline your ear to my sayings.
21 Do not let them depart from your eyes; Keep them in the midst of your heart;
22 For they are life to those who find them, And health to all their flesh.

Proverbs 4:20-22 (NKJV)

I have not been blogging for quite some time because I have been busy at work. I have also been sick 2 days ago. Somehow, I am lead to the above verses on health and this is what I will explore in this article.

The above passage is from the words of a personified Wisdom. Wisdom told us to listen to her words. Those words must not depart from our eyes. We are to keep them in our hearts because if we do, we will find life and have good physical health.

This tells us that the wisdom of God has practical uses. In this case, it brings us life and health. What are they? Let us start with “life”.

Why do we need wisdom to have life? Are we not alive? The term “life” here refers to good life. It means a life of joy, hope, peace and prosperity. This is the life that makes us happy and be glad that we are alive. God gives us life to enjoy, not to tolerate.

As I have written before, our God is not a sadist. It has never been his will for any one of us to suffer anything. If you happen to be in any form of suffering right now, it is the will of God for you to overcome them. He wants us to triumph over all our trials and tribulation. He wants us to emerge victorious and reap huge harvests.

This is the life we were designed to live and we do it by taking the wisdom of God seriously.

Next, we go to health. This is another scary subject in the religious churches. I suspect I can understand why. They are afraid that if they preach on good health and their members got sick, they will look stupid. So, they choose to preach only on things that cannot be proven. This is how they play safe.

However, the Bible says otherwise. The Bible has shown us that God is not afraid to promise us things that can be proven like health and wealth. God wants all of us to have good health. If you are sick right now, it is the will of God for you to get well. Do you intend to obey him?

Proverbs 4:22 guarantees us good physical health if we play by the rules. The rules are, keep the wisdom of God in our hearts and minds.

Are you able to do that? Are you willing to do that? As for me, I am in.

Accept Discipline

32 If you reject discipline, you only harm yourself; but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding.
Proverbs 15:32 (NLT)

I admit that discipline is my least favorite topic. I have never liked it. It gives me the impression that I have to do certain things even if I don’t feel like doing them. However, the truth is discipline is still necessary for us to live in victory and prosperity. In this article, I will show you why.

The first part of the above verse says if you reject discipline, you only harm yourself. This tells us that discipline has some defensive characteristics that can protect us. Let me give you an example.

Think of food. I believe most of us enjoy eating delicious food. God did not give us food just for nourishment alone. He also wants us to enjoy the process of eating. Many of us have no problem obeying this part of his will. If the food taste bad, it takes discipline to eat the minimum to sustain our metabolism. If the food taste good, it takes discipline not to overeat or we will have other health problems.

In short, it takes self-control. To be disciplined is to have full control over all our desires. A certain dish may tastes great but this does not mean we can eat more than necessary. We need to consider the consequences of our actions. What will happen if you over-eat? Will it cause you to be overweight, have higher cholesterol level or will you end up having a higher chance in getting sick? This is where discipline comes in.

Food is a necessity for us to stay alive but eating more than necessary may cause us to have shorter lives. So, good things like food can be bad if we over consume it. It does not make sense to sacrifice our health for food because if our health is gone, we will not be able to enjoy eating like we used to. Discipline is therefore vital in helping us to achieve the best outcome in life. No matter how much I don’t like it, I am aware of its importance in helping me in my prosperity.

Discipline is an asset to us. Whatever we do, we must have the necessary discipline to keep things under control. The next question is how to have discipline. The answer is to start from the spiritual realm. Take control of your thoughts. Determine what thoughts you want to think and focus on thinking about them. Don’t worry about the thoughts that you don’t want like negative thoughts. When you fill your mind with positive thoughts, there will be no space for the negative thoughts. Those negative thoughts will automatically leave you.

Once you are able to keep your thoughts in order, taking full control over all your desires will not be a problem.

The second part of the above verse says, “but if you listen to correction, you grow in understanding.” There is such a thing called correction. None of us is perfect. We make mistakes all the time. At the same time we need to learn from our mistakes. Since God himself wants us to live in prosperity, he will always correct us when we make mistakes. These corrections may even come through other human beings. We will be wise to listen to their corrections and use them to improve ourselves.

In my situation, I want to prosper in every area in my live. This includes having a lot of money. I am currently using the Bible as a tool to help me to achieve my objectives. If anyone out there has a better way to use the Bible to achieve prosperity, I am prepared to listen and learn from this person. I don’t have to be the smartest guy around. If anyone can show me a better way than mine, I am prepared to follow. In my mind, achieving my objective in getting rich is much more important than maintaining my ego. I hope it is the same with you.

If we listen to correction we grow in understanding. When we understand more, we can achieve more. For example, the more you understand how the stock market works, the more money you can make out of it. Likewise, the more we can understand more about the Bible, the more we can use it to bring us prosperity. So, always seek to understand more and you will prosper beyond your wildest dreams.

Jesus Heals All

24 News about him spread as far as Syria, and people soon began bringing to him all who were sick. And whatever their sickness or disease, or if they were demon possessed or epileptic or paralyzed—he healed them all.
Matthew 4:24 (NLT)

This is the part where Jesus had recruited his first few disciples and begun his ministry. Jesus’ ministry is not empty talk. It involved real healing. Jesus healed all the sick, demon possessed, epileptic and paralyzed. Please note the word “all” at the end of the above verse. I have a disclaimer here. It does not mean Jesus healed all the sick, demon possessed, epileptic and paralyzed in that region. What it means is mean Jesus healed all the sick, demon possessed, epileptic and paralyzed who came to him.

You may also have noticed that Jesus did not lay down any conditions to be healed. He never said that in order to qualify for healing you must confess all your sins regularly, read the Bible at least one hour every day, serve in church at least once a month, go for mission at least once a year, give money to church whenever the pastors ask for it or any other religious nonsense. Jesus’ healing in the Bible is unconditional. All you have to do is to go to him ask for healing and you will get it. He will never tell you that God wants you to be sick in order to show you his sufficient grace. The idea that sufficient grace equals sickness and disease is nothing more than theology, which is a lie from the pit of hell.

This reminds me of the Superman series. If you are trapped in a burning building, all you have to do is to call on the name of Superman. Superman will fly over faster than a speeding bullet to rescue you. I have never watched a series that shows Superman refusing to rescue people because he wanted to show them his sufficient grace in being barbecued in the burning building. Neither have I come across any scenes where Superman rescued people selectively. Superman rescued as many people as he can. These include those who do not pray, confess their sins nor go to church.

So, if you are still unable to understand the character of Jesus, watch Superman shows. Some cartoon can reveal more truth about Jesus than the theologians.

What do all these mean to us? We need to have a strong Bible foundation to do well in life. Whether you want to be happy, healthy, rich and successful in any area in your life, you need a strong Bible foundation to help you to achieve them. A strong Bible foundation is also necessary to overcome the lies of theology.

The Bible tells us that God is always on our side. His greatest desire is for us to prosper and be in health as our souls prosper. Health and wealth are a part of God’s desire for us. So, we don’t have to feel ashamed in admitting that we want to have abundant health and wealth in our lives. Jesus did not die at the Cross for us to be sick and poor.

As for the doctrine worshippers and theologians, they are the ones who should be ashamed of themselves because they had exchanged the truth for a pack of lies called theology.

As for us Christians, let us mind our business in using the Bible for our prosperity in all areas of our lives.

A Peaceful Heart Leads To A Healthy Body

30 A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.
Proverbs 14:30 (NLT)

This is another article on health. This is not my intention in the first place. My priority has always been prosperity, in particular lots of money. Somehow, I was led by the Lord to write on health in this article. It is not difficult to understand that we need good health to enjoy money. We cannot live good lives if we only have a lot of money but our health is poor. So, we need both health and wealth to live the lives God wants us to live.

The above verse tells us the results of a peaceful heart and jealousy. They were placed in such a way that they look opposite from each other. In order to have a peaceful heart, we must not be jealous. If we are jealous, our hearts are not peaceful. Both peaceful heart and jealousy are mutually exclusive. We can only choose one and reject the other. So, the question is what does God wants us to choose?

If you read the above verse, God does not give us any instruction on which option we should choose. He does not command us to have peaceful hearts and reject jealousy. As explained in the previous article, God simply tells us the end results of both options. Our role is to look at the end results and decide which one we want to have. Then we choose the action that gives us the results we want. This is how God deals with us. He does not practice micro-management. God never tells us whether to lift our left or right feel first when we walk. He wants us to have choices.

Which result do you want to come to your life? If you want to have good health and have believed beyond doubt that God wants you to have good health then you should have a peaceful heart. However, if you happen to believe in the theologians who told you that God wants to give you cancer in order to show you his sufficient grace, you should start to be jealous. Either way, you decide on your destiny.

From now on, I am going to assume that you want to have good health in your life and you are willing to risk being accused of being deluded by the Health And Wealth Gospel. In order to have good health, we need to have peaceful heart. How to have peaceful hearts?

There is only one answer. The answer is thoughts. Our thoughts determine the state of our hearts. The term “heart” here does not refer to the organ that pumps blood. It is our subconscious mind. It has the power to control your whole body. Our conscious mind can only have limited control over our bodies. For example, you can choose to raise your hands, turn your head, open or close your eyes, stand up and go for a walk etc. These are the actions we can have direct control through our conscious minds.

However, there are many body functions which we have no direct control. We cannot control our hearts’ pumping rate. We cannot control what hormones and the amount to be produces and released. When we have bacteria infection, we cannot directly instruct the antibodies to fight the invaders. All these actions are under the jurisdiction of our subconscious minds.

Our subconscious minds are extremely powerful. Its control over our bodies, memories and processing power far exceeds what our conscious minds can do. However, it has one weakness. It cannot make decision on its own. It depends on the conscious mind to make the decision and point out the direction. Then, the subconscious mind will work towards that direction.

So, it depends on what you choose to think. If you think positive thoughts, you are effectively sending an instruction to your subconscious mind to give you the best in every area of your life. Your subconscious mind will instruct your whole body to work at its optimum efficiency to repair every damage and kill any germs that managed to sneak in. You will have a healthy body.

In contrast, if you allow your conscious mind to think negative thoughts like thoughts of hopelessness, despair, bitterness, unforgiveness and jealousy, you are hindering your subconscious mind to do its job properly. Your subconscious mind will be confused and the reason is simply because we were no designed to have such thoughts in our minds. When your subconscious mind is confused and unable to do its properly, it will result in some malfunctions in your body.

The above verse tells us that jealousy is like cancer in the bones. It does not say that if you are jealous, you must have bone cancer. Cancer is the result of cells growing out of control. Our bones are the structure that holds up our entire body system. Cancer in the bones means there will be some parts within our system that will be out of our control and will destroy the whole body. It is dangerous.

In conclusion, if you want to have good health, you need to take full control of your conscious mind and demand that your conscious mind can only think positive thoughts. Then you will have a peaceful heart, which will lead to good health.

Healing Words

18 Some people make cutting remarks, but the words of the wise bring healing.
Proverbs 12:28 (NLT)

This article is about the confession of healing. I remember coming across a link to my blog on an article written by a doctrine worshipper spreading lies on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. His attack focused on our practice on our positive confession on healing. He invented the term “cone of silence” to accuse us and even claimed that we Christians do not tell the doctors of our sickness when we see them. Of course, he had conveniently left out the truth that we have never done what he had accused us of doing.

This incident tells us that the Theologian (or popularly known as Satan) is against us using positive confessions on our healing. Therefore, we must know and practice more of it. What is positive confession? Does it mean we have the “cone of silence” over us that forbids us from talking about bad things that had happened? Does it mean we cannot tell the doctor about our sickness? Why do we bother to see the doctor in the first place? Let us look at the above verse to find out.

The above verse tells us that some people make cutting remarks but the words of the wise bring healing. Words have the ability to make things better or worse. There are people who like to make cutting remarks. They talk negative most of the time. When they are in a recession like now, they will talk about their job insecurity due to high jobless rate. However, when times get better they will talk about how expensive things have become. So, whatever happens, it is always bad news.

I remember once the newspaper in Singapore reported that we have more millionaires. In the internet, there were people lamented on this news like it is bad. In their view, more millionaires means life will be tougher for non-millionaires due to the increase in prices. Right now we are in recession. I am sure the number of millionaires has been reduced. So, I wonder whether those who had lamented on the increase of millionaires earlier feel better now. After all, now that we have lesser millionaires, prices of things should be lower.

Enough of negative-talkers. Let us read the second part of the above verse. The words of the wise bring healing. We can tell the difference between the wise and the fools by the words that come out from their mouths. The fools talk negative and the wise talk positive. If you are ill, negative words make you worse but positive words can make our healing faster.

How does it work? Let me offer some explanation. Our bodies are designed by God to have the capacity of self-healing. This is an established truth in the medical science. Medicines cannot heal us directly. Its function is to facilitate the healing process. If you have a cut on your skin, you wash the wounds and apply some antiseptic on it. The antiseptic cannot make your wound heal. Its function is to prevent bacteria from entering your body through the wound and cause delay in the healing process. When the antiseptic does its job, your body can concentrate on the healing process. Your healing will be faster. This is how medicine works. It facilitates healing.

In my previous article, I mentioned placebo. A placebo looks like a pill but it is made entirely from sugar. It has no medical property. Technically it cannot be used to treat any disease. However, record shows that there were people healed from their supposedly incurable disease after taking some placebo. How can this happen? These people believed that pill they took have the power heal them. They got healed because they believed they were healed. The real cause of their healing was their faith.

This tells us that we need our minds to work in a certain way for our bodies to do their best jobs in fighting disease. If you are sick, your body is fighting the disease right now. The best way to help your body is to think positive thoughts, especially thoughts of healing. Visualize yourself healed and doing the things when you are healed. Listen to positive words on healing.

This brings us back to the message of the above verse. The words of the wise bring healing. Listen to these words. You can get them from your positive friends, positive sermons and the internet. If you have no access to those sources, you speak them yourself. In other words, if you don’t have wise people speaking healing words to you, you be the wise person yourself. Speak healing words to yourself. When you do that, you can overcome any disease no mater how incurable it is. This is the essence of healing words.

Now, let me address the accusations from the doctrine worshipper. Can we tell people we are sick? Of course we can. When I am sick, I am sick. It is a fact. What is there to hide or lie about? If I am sick I have no problem telling you that I can sick. “I am sorry I cannot join you for lunch today because I am not feeling well. I think I am going to see a doctor later.” I just don’t keep repeating it and elaborate on how sick I am because such words can cause my mind to think negative. Negative thoughts will only delay the healing process. Say what you need to say about your illness but keep it short. Speak more on healing words instead.

Next, can I tell the doctor on my sickness? Why would I want to see a doctor? I need additional help for me to get well. In order for the doctor to help me, he or she needs as much information as possible to devise the correct treatment. My role is to give the doctor all the information I know. So, I talk about my sickness to the best of my knowledge. At the same time, I don’t dwell upon them or talk about them repeatedly. I keep my mind positive with positive thoughts and speak healing words.

In conclusion, speak healing words when you are sick. Speaking healing words does not mean you cannot talk about your sickness. When you talk about your disease, stick to the necessary facts and don’t dwell on them.

Health Report

I have been certified healed last Saturday as I have believed the moment I was told I had it last Monday. I am really glad that the Word of God has changed me to be the person I am now. I did not ask for this disease but since it happened, I have decided to use it to test my faith. The result is, my faith works. If fact, the doctor told me that I have the best case of Shingles she had seen so far. I only have some isolated red spots on my body instead of the conventional case where there are supposed to be huge concentrations of infections. So, I did not really look that bad.

I have also checked on Shingles in the Wikipedia and found that I missed some of the symptoms. I don’t remember experiencing headache nor fever throughout the ordeal. Maybe I was too busy having fun.

It is one thing in talking about using faith and another in actually using it. This experience has given me the chance to use my faith in the area of health. The success in the area has prompted me to explore further in the area of developing health. The following are what I have learned so far.

All of us were made to be healthy. God has given us bodies with the capability to fight every sickness and disease. In other words, we have everything we need to live healthy lives. Our health is so important to God that he had even included it at the Cross of Calvary. At the Cross, Jesus took all our sickness and disease. By his stripes we are healed. It is the will of God for all of us to be healthy, even those who are currently sick now.

We need to believe. When we believe that God wants us to be healthy, we are thinking positive thoughts and creating our inner realities of good health. Our bodies respond to our thoughts. When we think good thoughts, our bodies will do their jobs at their best in repairing damaged systems and replacing bad cells. In contrast, when we think bad or negative thoughts, we will hamper the operations of our bodies. We will be vulnerable to sickness and disease.

In case someone may ask me whether I had bad thoughts before I got Shingles, my answer is I don’t remember having any. However, I am taking full responsibility for the disease. It must be a result of some weaknesses in my beliefs or lifestyles. I will never resort to the carnal way of attributing it to God. Based on my relationship with God, I am convinced that he is not a pervert. My God will never give people disease to show them his sufficient grace. He is a healer, not a disease giver. The idea of God giving disease to show us his sufficient grace is nothing more than a perversion of theology. My God is not a pervert as the theologians have been propagated.

The next question is, what does taking full responsibility means? In my case, I need to focus more on health. I have been using my faith but mostly in the area of financial prosperity. This is a wake up call for me to spend some time on health as well. There are still a lot of sickness that money cannot heal. Let me tell you what I have done.

After reading “The Science of Getting Rich” by Wallace Wattles, I am reading “The Science of Being Well” by the same author. It is a good book and I am planning to get a link to the free version on this blog. I am going to implement the ideas in the book starting from the diet plan.

 I will eat only when I am hungry and stop after the hunger has abated.

 I will make a distinction between hunger and appetite. Hunger is a sign from the body telling us that we need nourishment while appetite is just a lust for food. I will respond to hunger and not appetite.

 No more breakfast. According to the book, one can never be hungry in the morning. It is appetite, not hunger that we feel in the morning. I will eat only from noon onwards.

 When I eat, I will chew the food until it become liquid before swallowing and I will enjoy the process of it. Eating is supposed to be enjoyable. However, it does not mean that eating more means more joy. I will let my body to tell me when I have enough.

Other that the above, there is no restriction to the type of food I can eat. (I love this part).

The Danger Of Negative Thoughts And Feelings

23 So Michal, the daughter of Saul, remained childless throughout her entire life.
2 Samuel 6:23 (NLT)

I am back. Let me give you some update of myself. In her attempt to get me healed faster, my wife asked around for sinsehs who are able to cure Shingles. Sinsehs are the practitioners of traditional chinese medicine or TCM as we call it in Singapore. So, my wife asked the aunties (old women) in her office for information on a good sinseh and got one for me.

So, I went to one yesterday. To make the story short, here is the advice I got:

The only things I can eat are:
1. Bread with jam.
2. White rice or porridge with boiled vegetables.

In addition, the affected parts cannot touch water. So, I am not supposed to bathe until I am fully healed.

Do you think I will obey that? I told my wife that I will get healed but it is not because of this sinseh. I will be healed because of God and science. The conclusion of this experience is, when you are sick, visit a real doctor.

Enough about myself, let us continue with the story in 2 Samuel. After David got back the Ark, he organized a procession to bring it back to his palace.

12 Then King David was told, “The Lord has blessed Obed-edom’s household and everything he has because of the Ark of God.” So David went there and brought the Ark of God from the house of Obed-edom to the City of David with a great celebration.
13 After the men who were carrying the Ark of the Lord had gone six steps, David sacrificed a bull and a fattened calf.
14 And David danced before the Lord with all his might, wearing a priestly garment.
15 So David and all the people of Israel brought up the Ark of the Lord with shouts of joy and the blowing of rams’ horns.
2 Samuel 6:12-15 (NLT)

It was basically a party. It was a celebration and the people were having fun. Everyone was having a good time except for one, Michal who was David’s first wife.

16 But as the Ark of the Lord entered the City of David, Michal, the daughter of Saul, looked down from her window. When she saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, she was filled with contempt for him.
2 Samuel 6:16 (NLT)

The above verse says Michal was filled with contempt for David. It sounds very intense. She confronted David on his behavior. David in turn downplayed the event and said he would do it again if he wants to.

20 When David returned home to bless his own family, Michal, the daughter of Saul, came out to meet him. She said in disgust, “How distinguished the king of Israel looked today, shamelessly exposing himself to the servant girls like any vulgar person might do!”
21 David retorted to Michal, “I was dancing before the Lord, who chose me above your father and all his family! He appointed me as the leader of Israel, the people of the Lord, so I celebrate before the Lord.
22 Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this, even to be humiliated in my own eyes! But those servant girls you mentioned will indeed think I am distinguished!”
2 Samuel 6:20-21 (NLT)

The chapter ends with something that happened to Michal on that day onwards.
23 So Michal, the daughter of Saul, remained childless throughout her entire life.
2 Samuel 6:23 (NLT)

Let us try to understand what exactly had happened and then learn something from it. It is not difficult to understand why there was a party. David had a close relationship with God. They were good friends. Bring back the Ark was a joyful occasion. So, David organized a party and everyone was having fun.

However, Michal was not happy with what she saw. Why not? In today’s description, Michal was a member of a non-charismatic church. The church she attended told her that charismatic churches are heretics. True Christians must not get involved in form of charismatic behavior especially if you are a king. So, when she saw her husband, the king behaving like a charismatic, she was very angry. It was not just an ordinary anger. The Bible tells us that she was filled with contempt. Her feelings must be very intense.

She had even confronted David and confronted him for behaving like a charismatic but she did not get the response she wanted. David still insisted in attending the charismatic church.

Somehow, she became barren and unable to have any child.

Let us look at why is this important. In those days, having children was very important for married women especially for the wives of a king. If you happen to be one of them, your luxurious lifestyle is basically guaranteed as long as the king you are married to is alive. What will happen after he dies? It depends on how are you related to the new king. If the new king happens to be the son of another wife of this present king, you may not have a very secure future in the palace. So, the best survival guide for a king’s wife is to bear him a son who will become his heir. Michal’s condition means she had no future in the palace. It was bad for her.

Why did she become this way? The only reason we can find is her intense negative feelings. She did not just dislike what she saw. She was filled with contempt. Being filled with contempt means her thoughts and feelings must be very negative. Her body was adversely affected by it. The result was, Michal could not give birth to any child.

In case anyone is wondering whether God was involved in this, let me make this clear. God will never give lung cancer to smokers. God will never give Aids to those who practice unprotected casual sex. God will never kill anyone who jumps from a tall building. God created the laws of nature to govern this universe for our prosperity. As long as we live in harmony with these laws, we will have good lives on earth. However, if we choose to abuse these laws, we will face the consequences. If you don’t believe this, try to smoke, practice unprotected casual sex or jump from tall building. You will know the results very soon.

This is the cause of Michal’s problems. She allowed her mind to be filled with contempt and she had to bear the consequences. The lesson for us here is, always guard our hearts and minds against contempt (negative thoughts and feelings).

Let me get this clear. We are living in the real world. In the real world nothing is perfect. Whatever ideal situation you can conceive in your mind, you will not see it in the real world. The question is, how will you respond? Do you intend to think negative each time something goes wrong in your life? If you do, your life is going to be very miserable. Not only that, you will create more negative events in your life.

When we think about something regardless of whether it is positive or negative, we are creating feelings. Our bodies respond to our feelings. When we feel good, we are sending instructions to our bodies to work at their best efficiency. We are effective telling our bodies to heal every wound, replace every damaged cells and work at their best. No wonder the Bible tells us that a cheerful heart is good medicine.

So, if you are sick right now, your only responsibility is to be happy. Do everything you can to be happy. I don’t care how bad or terminal your sickness is, the moment you flood your mind with good feelings, you disease will have no chance to stay in your body.

In contrast, if you choose to be negative, Michal will be your example.

In conclusion, be on guard. Guard your hearts and minds against negative thoughts and feelings. Be happy and joyful at all times. Your health, wealth and other well beings depend on it.

Overcoming Sickness

15 And the Lord will protect you from all sickness. He will not let you suffer from the terrible diseases you knew in Egypt, but he will inflict them on all your enemies!
Deuteronomy 15:15 (NLT)

This is the second day I am in my one week of medical leave. The doctor told me I have Shringles, which is caused by the remnants of chicken pox virus. I have some red spots on my body and experienced periodical intense pain on those areas. It is also supposed to be infectious, thus the one week of medical leave.

How am I supposed to respond to this situation? Let me start by telling you what I have forgotten. I have forgotten how to behave like a helpless victim. I have forgotten how to feel sorry for myself. I have forgotten how to suffer correctly. The pain may be very intense but I still don’t feel like a victim. Do you know why?

I have changed. The Word of God has changed me into a new person. Right now, I see the whole situation as I am facing a setback in my life and setbacks are to be overcome. I intend to overcome this sickness and be in a better situation than the day before I have it. I am on medication. The pills that were prescribed by the doctor are more expensive than the conventional drugs. I am sure the pills will do their job but I am not going to rely on them alone no matter how expensive they are. I am using my faith.

Each day, I am committed to keep my heart in joy and gratefulness. I believe that God is always on my side fighting this disease. The above verse tells me that God will protect me from all sickness. The sickness that is in me now is nothing more than one of the “all sickness” in the above verse. Therefore, I am destined to win. God will make sure that I will overcome this disease in Jesus’s name. I will intensify my faith every time the pain manifests. I will win.

The question many may ask is, why does this disease manifest in the first place? A theologian would have said that it is the will of his god to give people disease to teach them some lessons. You know what? He is right. The theologian is right because the god of the theologian is The Theologian whose destiny is the pit of hell. Our God had banished The Theologian from heaven to hell. Therefore I agree with the theologian that his god (otherwise known as Satan or The Theologian) is the one responsible for my disease.

The second question is why would The Theologian want to put sickness in me? I can think of several reasons. They are:
1. He wants to destroy my faith.
2. He wants to remove my joy.
3. He wants to block my prosperity.
4. He wants to stop me from becoming the testimony of God’s goodness.

These must be the reasons the god of theology wants me to learn and I have learned well. These are the things I am doing now:

1. I will develop my faith to the next level. Each time I feel the pain, I will remind me of God faithfulness in keeping his promises. If you read the whole passage Deuteronomy 15:12-15, you will find that God’s promise of health also comes with wealth. Our God does not believe in partial prosperity. His prosperity is complete. It covers every area of our lives. This means I will not only end up in good health, I will also be richer in other areas in my life as well, including financially.

2. I am not going to let this pain deny me of my joy. I am doing what I like now. I have been blogging, trading, playing chess, watching Star Trek and surfing the internet. I plan to read science fiction later. Wow, are you envious of my good life? Do you think I am behaving like a sick guy?

3. I started the real trade yesterday and made my first profit. The profit I made is many times more than my medical bill. In addition I am still receiving my salary during this week. I am not getting poorer. I am getting richer. I will be richer in this week than the week before. I intend to be richer and richer as the weeks pass.

4. Finally, I am not ashamed of my situation. I did not ask for it but since it happens I am not going to hide it either. I will use this situation as another opportunity to use my faith to overcome the setbacks in my life and I hope that as you read about my experience, you will be inspired to overcome your own setbacks as well.

In conclusion, God is not responsible for our setbacks. He is always on our side. He will help us to overcome them and turn them to our advantage. What the Theologian meant for evil, our God can turn it for good. All we need to do is to believe. Do you believe in the goodness of God?

God Will Deliver You And Honor You

15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.
16 With long life I will satisfy him, And show him My salvation.”
Psalm 91:15-16(NKJV)

We have come to the end of my Psalm 91 series. Before I continue with the lessons, I would like to thank my theologian guests for actively promoting this blog and contributed your valuable ideas here. (My personal favorite is the one who prays for God to give him sickness and poverty.) Your active participation and promotion is greatly appreciated.

However, I would like to make it clear that my target audience is real Christians who live in the real world, facing real problems and want real solutions for their problems. This is my intention all along. I want to sow seeds of faith and hope into your hearts in order to help you to overcome your problems and achieve prosperity in every area of your life. In return, I expect this seed to yield a huge harvest for myself. I am expecting to get very rich out of this.

I suspect many have not noticed that I have added in a new free ebook in my blogroll. It is a classic book entitled “The Science Of Getting Rich” and it was first published in 1910. I am so impressed by it that I have even bought a hard copy from the bookshop and carry it around everywhere I go so that I can read it repeatedly until it becomes a part of me. If you are truly interested in getting rich, I suggest you to download the book and read it yourself. Your life will never be the same again.

Let us get back to the verses. Psalm 91 ends with a bang. The last 2 verses give us the steps on what to do when we face problems in our lives. It begins with us calling upon the Lord. Whatever problems you are facing right now, you need to call upon the Lord because he has all the answers.

Please note that calling upon the Lord is not begging him for help. When you beg someone for help, you are not really sure whether this person is willing to help you. Based on the overall context of this psalm, we call with confident expectation that God will come to deliver us. In other words, calling upon the Lord is an act of faith. We believe that our God is able and willing to come to help us. Our deliverance is a certainty regardless on how impossible our situation appears to be.

What will happen when we call upon the Lord? The subsequent part says he will answer us. Even theologians have no problem to this part. However this is where they sneak in their theology. Theologians tell us that sometimes God can answer our prayers with a “no”. Are they right? Can God say “no” when we call upon him to deliver us? Think about this. If “no” can be an answer from God, then anyone can be God.

I can be God too. Pray to me and ask me for anything. I will answer your prayers with a “no” unless you ask me trick questions. If you dare to ask me trick questions, I can always threaten to give you “the grace and mercy to share in the suffering of Christ”, which means I will do perverted things on you.

So, it is clear that when God answers us, it is always “yes”. God is on our side. After he answered us, he will be with us in trouble. We will never be alone in our struggles. As Christians, this truth should not be a surprise anymore because the moment we believed in Jesus, we are sealed with the Holy Spirit. This means God is always with us. He will never leave us no matter what happens.

So far so good but that is not the answer we want when we have problems, do we? We want solutions. The next part says: “I will deliver him and honor him.” God will deliver us when we call on him. I have written on God’s deliverance in my previous article and I do not wish to repeat those. You can click on the previous article if you want to know more. I shall zoom into the honoring part.

God promised to deliver and honor us at the same time. What does that mean? Imagine yourself as a US soldier serving in Iraq. When your team was doing a routine patrol, you were ambushed by the Iraqi rebels. All your team members except you were killed. You were the only one fighting back but you were outgunned and outnumbered. When God delivers you, it means you are able to stay alive until you are able to make it back safely to your camp. When God honors you, you become a war hero out of this event. You will get a medal and a promotion. In today’s scenario, you will even be courted by TV networks and publishers who offer you millions of dollars for the exclusive of your story. In short, you ended up better off than before the problem began.

This is God’s will for us when he delivers us. He always over-delivers. We will end up better off than before that problem begins. So, if you are facing a big problem now, rejoice because when God delivers you, he will honor you with bigger things. You will be better off than the time before that problem appears. The only thing you should always remember is never give up.

The last verse is the bonus for calling upon the Lord. He will satisfy us with long life. How long is long? The verse says it is to our satisfaction. How long are you satisfied with? If you are satisfied with living up to 100 years, God will give you 100 years of life on earth. If you are satisfied with living up to 1,000 years, God will give you 1,000 years of life on earth. They keyword here is: your satisfaction.

In case someone wants to ask, “How about Christians who died young?” Please refer to my previous articles on this psalm. I just cannot keep repeating.

Next, God promised to show us his salvation. The magic word here is “show”. As Christians we are all saved. We will go to heaven when we die. Nothing can change this truth. However, salvation is more than just going to heaven after we die. There is a lot more benefits, which include health and wealth on earth. God will show us all these and teach us how to get them.

God is good.

No Plague Will Come Near Your Home

9 If you make the Lord your refuge, if you make the Most High your shelter,
10 no evil will conquer you; no plague will come near your home.
Psalm 91:9-10 (NKJV)

Welcome to my series in Psalm 91. Verse 9 above is the repetition of Verse 1. Why is there a need for repetition on a verse that is just 8 verses away? Obviously, God must have think of this as very important. All the promises in this psalm will only work when all the conditions in this verse are fulfilled. We have to make the Lord our refuge and shelter. This means we need to trust in him. No matter how bad the external situation looks like, we got to believe that our God is able to deliver us out of them and bring us to victory.

Verse 10 gives us 2 promises if we abide by the conditions in Verse1, which are repeated in Verse 9.
 No evil will conquer you
 No plague will come near your home.

Let us start with the first one. What is evil? If you ask the theologians, they tell you that anyone who does not obey their theology is evil. This means God is also evil. Let us find out what the dictionary says.

Evil

E”vil\ ([=e]”v’l) n.

1. Anything which impairs the happiness of a being or deprives a being of any good; anything which causes suffering of any kind to sentient beings; injury; mischief; harm; — opposed to good.

Evils which our own misdeeds have wrought. –Milton.

The evil that men do lives after them. –Shak.

2. Moral badness, or the deviation of a moral being from the principles of virtue imposed by conscience, or by the will of the Supreme Being, or by the principles of a lawful human authority; disposition to do wrong; moral offence; wickedness; depravity.

The heart of the sons of men is full of evil. –Eccl. ix. 3.

3. malady or disease; especially in the phrase king’s evil, the scrofula. [R.] –Shak.

He [Edward the Confessor] was the first that touched for the evil. –Addison.

Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary

In short, evil is the absence or opposite of good. It covers both moral and physical. I like the first definition:

“Anything which impairs the happiness of a being or deprives a being of any good; anything which causes suffering of any kind to sentient beings; injury; mischief; harm; — opposed to good.”

Anything that deprives you from good, causes you to suffer in any way (both physical and spiritual) is evil. Is theology evil? All you have to do is to look at the comments from the theologians in this blog. One of them even dared to write a prayer that asks God to give him sickness and poverty. Is that not enough proof that these people are depraved?

In case somebody is wondering why do I allow free access to anyone including theologians to write abusive and condemning words on me, the reason is simple. I want them to prove me right. Through their words, you can see for yourself how sickening theology can be. In the minds of the theologians, God is a sadist who loves to make you suffer for his glory. In other words, God loves to impose evil on you.

Yet, the above verse tells us otherwise. God promised that evil will not conquer us. There is good news and a bad news here. The bad news is, evil does exist and it can come to us. The good news, even if it comes, God has guaranteed that it will not conquer us.

We are living in the real world. We face all types of evil everyday. We face the risk of lack, sickness, harm and types of disappointments. Even as you read this blog now, there are many Christians struggling against poverty, sickness and other forms of trials. Challenges are inevitable but that does not mean we must give in. As believers, we are in the world but not of the world. We may face all types of evils but we do not have to give in to them and allow them to conquer us. Why? He who is in us is greater than he who is in this world. God has guaranteed us that no evil will conquer us and he is a person of integrity.

The second promise in Verse 10 is no plague will come near your home. Let us read what the dictionary is telling us about it.

Main Entry: plague
Pronunciation: ‘plAg
Function: noun
1 : an epidemic disease causing a high rate of mortality : PESTILENCE plague of cholera>
2 : a virulent contagious febrile disease that is caused by abacterium of the genus Yersinia (Y. pestis syn. Pasteurella pestis), that occurs in bubonic, pneumonic, and septicemic forms, and that is usually transmitted from rats to humans bythe bite of infected fleas (as in bubonic plague) or directly from person to person (as in pneumonic plague) called also black death

Webster’s Revised Unabridged Dictionary

When a plague happens, many people will get infected easily and will die. It is a disaster. Despite our progress in medical science, plagues still happen. The human race is not the only one who knows how to progress. The bacteria and virus can do the same. In other words, plagues can still happen but God promised that it will not come near our house.

In case some people are asking on Christians who died of plagues, please read my previous article. I have addressed this issue and do not wish to repeat it in this blog. In Singapore we have a recent plague called SARS. There is an interesting story behind this.

The first person in Singapore identified to be infected by SARS is a Christian lady. She was hospitalized. Her pastor went to visit her and prayed for her. The pastor got infected and died. So, the common Christians’ carnal belief was, since a pastor can die of SARS, surely being a Christian does not spare you from this plague. It is clear that they have never read or refused to believe in Psalm 91:10. They think God is a liar.

This is the problem of being carnal minded. If you are carnal minded, you can only see the negative. In the above story, there is a positive outcome. The lady whom the pastor prayed for had recovered. So, the pastor’s prayers actually worked. Let us look at this logically. If the death of the pastor means Christians are not immune to SARS, then the recovery of the person this pastor prayed for must mean a Christian’s prayers can overcome the effect of SARS!

Some may ask, “Didn’t the pastor pray for himself?” The answer is I don’t know. All I know is the person he prayed for got well. His prayer worked. This is my message here. You can pray your way out of every evil and plague if you pray in faith.

God is a person of integrity. He will fulfill his promises.
