The Benefits Of Giving

38Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
Luke 6:38 (NIV)

I am back again to write on my favorite topic: prosperity. I just love the prospect of having abundance in all things including a lot of money. In my previous articles, I have shared that when God first made Man, he gave Man his First Commandment.

The First Commandment established the human species as the master of this earth. We are the bosses, not slaves here on earth. The Bible also tells us that Jesus is the King of kings and Lord of lords. We are the kings and lords under the kingdom and lordship of Jesus.

After the First Commandment, God told Adam, the first man the First Law. There are other names given to this law. In many churches, it is known as the Law of Sowing And Reaping. In the secular world, it is known as the Law of Attraction.

God must have a very high regard of this law that he keeps repeating it throughout the Bible. If you ever read the Bible, you can see that the First Law have been presented in various forms and settings. The above verse is one of them.

The above verse consists of Jesus’ words to his people. He wanted them to practice giving. Please note that Jesus did not say “give” and stopped there. He told us the consequences of giving. When we give, we will get back what we have given but that is not all.

“A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

The above sentence simply means that we will get back more than we have given. This is the Law Of Sowing And Reaping presented in another form. The amount that we can get back is proportional to the amount we give away but it is always more than the amount we have given.

This law has been working faithfully from the beginning till now and I doubt it will ever end. God expects us to use it. Whatever, problems you are facing right now, this law is always applicable to help you to get out of it.

1. If you are short of money, start to give away the little money you have. If you don’t have a single cent, give a service or a blessing to someone.

2. If you are ill, help others to get well. Look for sick people whom you can pray for their healing.

3. If your relationship is in a mess, help others to improve theirs.

In short, whatever shortage you face right now, give the same thing away or help other who faced the same shortage. This law always works. If you want it to work for you, then activate it by giving something.

As I have mentioned before, this is an automated law. It works for everyone who puts it to work. It is also neutral. It has no concept of good and evil. All it knows it to create a harvest out of the seed we sow. If we sow a good seed, we have a harvest of good. If we sow evil seeds, a harvest of evils will come to our lives.

Therefore, the wise thing to do is to sow good things, especially the things we want to receive in our harvest. As for me, I want to sow money.

Hi, this is more of a question. My husband has a good income and therefore I stay home with our 5 children. We have 7 but the older two are on their own. Our oldest daughter is in great need for money but due to the fact she has made some bad choices my husband is reluctant to help her out. She has a 1 year old daughter. What does the bible say about me helping her out without my husband knowing. My heart breaks for her and its not like we would be doing without to do so.

    Hi Kim,

The Bible is not a tyrant who demands us to obey its every whims. It is a tool given by God for us to use for our prosperity.

In your case, I advise you to follow your heart. Do not allow yourself to live in regret in future for the sake of men or a tool. Your daughter has made a mistake but who doesn’t? You should also keep in mind that no matter how wrong your daughter had been, your grand daughter is innocent. If your husband has a heart, he should be aware of this as well.

So, as I have said, follow your heart. Helping your daughter and grand daughter is not somehting to be ashamed of. You do not need to keep it from your husband.
