16 The godly may trip seven times, but they will get up again. But one disaster is enough to overthrow the wicked.
Proverbs 24:16 (NLT)
The above verse tells us that being godly does not protect us from making mistakes. We have our share of setbacks. We may have tripped and fell. In short, our lives are not bed of roses. There were and will be challenges from time to time. Does this mean that God does not care for us? Does this mean that all the promises of health and wealth in the Bible are no longer true. The answer is no. God still loves us. He still wants to prosper us in every area of our lives. However, the blessings of God are in the form of helping us in overcoming problems and not in avoiding problems.
This is why the above verse begins with, “The godly may trip seven times.” We can trip and fall repeatedly but our God has given us the guarantee that we will get up again. If you happen to have been through a series of failures you have to remind yourself that God has given you everything you need to overcome your problems. You will get up again. Our failures are never meant to be permanent. Our victories are.
This is a great encouragement for those of us who are unable to see any glimmer of hope in a distressing situation. You may feel like God has abandoned you and left you with the troubles that you are facing now. You may have tried many ways but failed. No matter how hard you tried, you had tripped and fell.
This is the time to put things into a greater perspective. Sure, you have fell many times, it was God who held you up each time you fell. You had been attacked from every direction but you are still alive. This means God had been protecting you. God did not leave you after all.
You may feel like you have reached the rock bottom and you cannot take it anymore. Let me tell you a secret. This means Satan must have launched his deadliest attacks on you and you are still standing. You have won! You have emerged victorious and you have made it. It is time to celebrate. You life will only move in one direction from now on: up, up and away! Activate this process with joy and thanksgiving in your heart. Your breakthrough will manifest in the most powerful way that you have never experienced before.
You may have tripped seven times but you will get up again. Each time you get up, you become stronger, wiser, richer and have greater faith. You are now in position to face greater storms and consequently reap greater rewards.
