Stand Up, Pick Up Your Mat And Walk

8 Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!”
John 5:8 (NLT)

This is an addition from the article posted last Saturday. In the previous article, we have gone through the story on how Jesus healed a man who had been sick for thirty eight years. As I read through the article, the Lord had revealed more truths to me which I am going to share in this article.

The focus of this article is in Jesus’ words in John 5:8: “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!”

Let us study in detail.

Stand Up
The sick man was unable to walk. Yet, Jesus told him to stand up. Why? In Jesus’ mind the man’s problem is over. You may be poor and sick right now but in Jesus’ mind you are rich and healthy. At the Cross, Jesus bore all our sicknesses and diseases. At the Cross, Jesus died poor for us to live rich. Therefore, how can he see us as sick and poor? As far as he is concern, he has given us everything we need to be rich, healthy and successful. So, when he tells us to stand up, he is telling us to take back things that is already ours. We don’t have to beg God for health and wealth. All we need to do is to stand up and take the health and wealth that Jesus had paid for us at the Cross.

Another meaning of “stand up” is not to be under the negative situation. You may be facing a crisis right now. God does not want you to be under the negative situation. He wants you to stand up and get above the situation. In God’s opinion, your rightful position is above and not under the bad situation. He has given us everything we need to overcome the bad situation and be victorious. His grace is always sufficient for us.

His grace is sufficient for us to turn every poverty into prosperity, every sickness into health and every failure into success. His will for us is for us to stand up and take what he has given to us.

Pick Up Your Mat
The sick man was lying on the mat. The mat was his comfort zone. There are people who have given up hope and wallow in self-pity. They even have pity parties and became comfortable there. If you have been indulging in self-pity, Jesus wants you get rid of this habit. Stop lying on your mat and show people how pitiful you are. Pick up your mat and get a life.

Pity parties should not be strange phenomena to many of us. People of the world including religious Christians participate in them all the time. Have you been in a gathering where people take turns to talk negative? They may talk about how bad the economy is, how high the food prices and how vulnerable they are to threats of plagues and terrorism. They are effectively convincing each other to be negative. What do you think will happen to people who participate in pity parties? Do you think they will ever improve? The answer is no. The pity parties will only reinforce negative mindsets and these mindsets will hinder every effort for success in your life.

The lesson here is, stay away from pity parties no matter how comfortable they appear to be. If you are really serious about living a life of health, wealth and success, you have to treat pity parties like plagues.

Walk
It means start moving. Once you are healed, you should not be at the Sheep Gate anymore. Get out of that place, find a job and start your new life. A Christian life is always in motion. We are always moving forward.

You may be poor and burdened with debts. You pray for God to deliver you and you believe you receive. One day, your prayers are answered. All your debts are cleared and you have a few millions dollars leftover. What are you going to do next? Jesus wants you to walk. This means start using your new found wealth to help other poor people.

If you are determined to help the poor, you will find that a few millions dollars will not be enough. Ask God for more and more money so that you can help more people. This is the meaning of “walk”.

God wants to bless us. At the same time, he blesses us to be a blessing to others. This is something we must always remember when we ask for blessings in our lives. As long as we continue to walk and be blessings to others, there is no limit on how much prosperity we can get from God.

So, do you want to be extremely rich? Start 8 Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!”

As soon as individuals recognize that detail, a lot less disappointment transpires therefore individuals will be not as
likely to quit a healthy fat loss program.
Time after time people cut out everything they enjoy about eating or try
to change everything all at once. Body massage is very useful for
    weight loss.
