1 “Sing, O childless woman, you who have never given birth! Break into loud and joyful song, O Jerusalem, you who have never been in labor. For the desolate woman now has more children than the woman who lives with her husband,” says the Lord.
2 “Enlarge your house; build an addition. Spread out your home, and spare no expense!
3 For you will soon be bursting at the seams. Your descendants will occupy other nations and resettle the ruined cities.
Isaiah 54:2-3 (NLT)
The above passage was directed to a woman who had never had a child. The context seems to tell us that this woman does not even live with her husband. Therefore, it was totally impossible or her to give birth to a child. Yet, God was telling this woman to get ready for a huge family. She was told to start enlarging her house. Her descendents will be so populous that they will occupy other nations and resettle on the ruined cities.
What does this mean to us? Please note that God wanted this woman to enlarge her house first even before she had her first child. Why? This is an act of faith. Spiritually, it means start thinking big before you can have you big blessings. In God’s view, those with small houses will not be able to have big families. Likewise, people with the poor mentality will never get rich. God wants us to trust in him and think big. How are we supposed to do that?
If you are poor and in debt now, the worst thing you can do is to think poor. Why? If you think poor, you will always be poor. If you are really serious of wanting God to deliver you from poverty to prosperity, you have to start to trust in him. You will have to build up your faith. Start reading the Bible, meditating on Bible verses on prosperity, listening to messages on faith and confess you prosperity. In doing so, your faith will increase. As your faith increases, your ability to receive prosperity from God increases as well. Prosperity will manifest in your life.
“What if it doesn’t work?”
The only way the Bible does not work is when you give up. God is so serious in wanting to prosper us that he sent Jesus to die poor at the Cross, for us to live rich.
“What if I don’t want to be rich?”
Prosperity is not an option for Christians. It is a responsibility. Any Christian who does not wish to be prosperous is irresponsible. Not wanting to be rich is disrespectful to Jesus who died poor for us to live rich. In addition, it is also being selfish. The poor cannot help the poor. Only the rich can help the poor to get out from the bondage of poverty. Refusing to be rich means refusing to help the poor and suffering people in the world.
However, just because we have decided to obey God by taking up the responsibility to be rich, it does not mean we will be automatically rich. We have an enemy called Satan. Satan knows that when Christians obey God and be rich, we will have the resources to save souls and deliver people from his oppressions.
This is why Satan will do whatever he can to stop us from being rich. One of his ways is to use religious people to pressure us from obeying God. Why do you think those religious folks used terms like “Prosperity Gospel” to label Christians who are committed to God? They are trying to deny us of our freedom from Christ and get us to be under the bondage of their religion. However, just because they are trying, it does not mean they will win. As long as we keep believing and don’t give up, Satan and his army of religious people will fail. Their lies can never replace the truth.
One of the favorite ways the religious people used to convince us that our God is a liar, is to point to us negative examples. They will show us people who believed in the prosperity of God for a long time and are still poor. They will tell you that they know so-and-so who believed God for their prosperity but still died poor. (However, they will conveniently ignore those who believed in God and received their blessings.)
Their motive is to destroy our faith in God by pointing out negative situations and examples. It you happen to feel like believing in their lies, I suggest you consider the following question:
Will you get your prayers answered if you abandon God and subject yourself to their bondage?
In other words, will God answer your prayers if you join their religion? No matter how much the religious people try to twist the Scriptures to justify their religion, the truth remains unchanged – they cannot help to improve your situation. Therefore, getting into religion can never improve your situation. Religion can only cause to be discouraged and despair. If you really want live prosperous life, turn to God and away from religion.
Let us move on to the principle of “thinking big”. How exactly are we supposed to think big? Here are some practical examples:
Imagine yourself living rich. When you see a building, imagine yourself to be the owner of it. When you are in a bus, imagine yourself sitting in a chauffeur driven limousine. When you are in your house, imagine it as a huge mansion with lots of servants and luxurious furniture. When you are traveling in a budget airline, imagine the plane as your personal plane full of luxuries. Wouldn’t that make your day every day?
Imagine yourself happy. Imagine yourself spending quality time having fun with your family. See yourself running around the beach with your children and laughing together. Imagine yourself giving out aids like food packages, daily necessities or toys to poor families. Imagine their happy and grateful faces when they take the precious items from you. Wouldn’t this inspire you to be rich in order to help the poor?
Imagine yourself victorious. Instead of wishing a problem free life, why not see yourself overcoming problems? See yourself as a problem solver at work. Here is an example of myself. I have secured a new job as a project manager with higher salary. I look forward to my new job. Everyday, I imagine myself encouraging my team members to overcome problems, coming out with solutions and create better systems to cut cost and improve profits. In fact, I told my new employer in my job interview that, I would prefer to be assigned to the most difficult project. I believe I could make such statements because I have been seeing myself victorious. Start doing the same for yourself. If you are disabled and unable to use your legs, imagine yourself running and jumping around. If you are unable to speak, imagine yourself shouting and singing praises to God. In short, imagine yourself doing what you wish to do.
Imagine excellence everyday. If you are a dancer, imagine yourself making all the moves in perfection. If you are a swimmer, imagine yourself making all the right moves in swimming. If you are going to do some presentation, start seeing yourself making the best presentation. If you are going to make a speech, start seeing and hearing yourself making the powerful speech.
Final note, when you do your imagination, the effect will be better if you involve as many senses as possible. When you imagine yourself dancing, don’t be limited to just “seeing” yourself dancing. You must “feel” your muscles straining when making those moves. Remember to “hear” the music and when your performance is over, “hear” the applause. The more senses are involved, the more real your experience will be. Soon, your imagination will become reality.
In conclusion, no matter what you wish for in life, the first step is to think big.
