Jesus Bore Our Sickness At The Cross

4Surely our sicknesses he hath borne, And our pains — he hath carried them, And we — we have esteemed him plagued, Smitten of God, and afflicted.
Isaiah 53:4 (Young’s Literal Translation)

When Jesus died at the Cross, he had not only taken all our sins, he took along the results of our sins which include sickness and poverty. In this article, we shall study deeper into the result of his acts in bearing our sickness.

What does God mean when he says Jesus bore our sickness? Obviously, we don’t have to bear any sickness anymore. We are free from every sickness from as minor as flu or fever to as serious as terminal disease. No sickness has the right to oppress us.

However, there are still many Christians who are sick. Does this means Jesus’ works in bearing our sickness is no longer valid? If you really believe in that, then you must also believe that God’s requirement for Christians to be truthful is no longer valid because there are Christians who cheated. So, how do we explain why Christians get sick? The answer is our sickness is illegal. If you are sick right now, you need to be aware that this sickness has no right to oppress you. You have God given right to drive it away.

Think of the example of illegal immigrants. In Singapore we have strict laws against foreigners working here and overstaying unless they have the necessary work permit or employment pass. However, there are people from other countries who entered Singapore with social visit pass (which allow them to stay in Singapore for a limited time but not allowed to work for wages), but they chose to work illegally and stayed beyond the allowable days in Singapore. They have become illegal immigrants.

Now, does the existence of illegal immigrants in Singapore shows that the immigration laws in Singapore to be invalid? Certainly, not. If you see illegal immigrants in Singapore, the problem does not lie with the law. It lies in the enforcement of the law. The government will have to improve in the enforcement to ensure the law is kept.

Likewise, for us Christians. When a Christian falls sick, it does not mean that Isaiah 53:4 is no longer valid. The problem does not lie in Isaiah 53:4. The problem lies in the enforcement of it. Who are the ones who have to enforce it? We are. As Christians we have been given all the powers on heaven and on earth. God has given us everything we need to enforce his rule on earth. We have the authority to enforce health, prosperity, long life, success, joy, peace and every good thing that we desire. The only way to activate our authority is to pray by faith.

24 I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.
Mark 11:24 (NLT)

We need to believe we receive when we pray in order to activate the powers of God in our lives. So if you are sick right now, don’t pray for the sake of praying. Pray for results. Don’t pray like you are begging God to heal you as though he has not decided whether he wants you healed. God has decided 2,000 years ago at the Cross of Calvary that he wants us healed when Jesus bore all our sickness at the Cross.

In God’s mind, every Christian is free from any form of sickness. His will for us is to be eternally healthy. So, when we pray, we pray with conviction that our God wants us healed and we pray with faith that his will to be done in our bodies. All the sicknesses in our bodies shall be eternally removed from us. As long as you believe, you shall receive your healing.

So, when you are sick, the issue is not how serious or how incurable the sickness is according to the medical report. With all due respect to the doctors, their verdict on your condition is based strictly on the limited amount of knowledge that they have based on the natural law. Their medical knowledge does not include what Jesus did at the Cross. Therefore, when you are sick, the only question you have to ask yourself is, do you still believe Jesus bore all your sickness at the Cross? If your answer is yes, get up and claim your rights.

Religious people will oppose to this verse because according to their religious doctrines their God is the one who give sickness to Christians to bring them to heaven. In fact, one religious guy wrote in to this blog to tell me that sickness and grave leads to heaven. How perverted can he be? The hypocritical part is, even religious people seek treatment when they are sick. Obviously they don’t really believe in their religious doctrines.

In conclusion, when you are sick you have to remind yourself what Isaiah 53:4 says and stay away from religion. If you really want to get well, avoid religion like a plague.

All very interesting but according to your interpretation you are saying we should never die because if Jesus bore our sickness then there is no sickness we can die from!

You cant say He look all our sickness but not the one we will die from. Everyone will die from something. Even old age is a result of sin which you say Jesus died for. Paul was one of the greatest healing evangelists in the Bible (other than Jesus) but he advised Timothy to take a little wine for his stomach and frequent illness. Why would he tell him that if he knew Jesus had died for his illness. Surley Paul would have known that. Why do we need gifts of healing if all we have to do is receive healing like we do forgivness of sin.

Worst of all is if you are saved and healed by what Jesus did on the cross and sickness comes upon you how do you know that your sins wont come back on you. If you are ill and many Christians are by your interpretation then sin must be able to come on you and you are lost.

If you go by your interpretation then you must look at like this….. If sin and sickness are the removed from us by the same way and sickness comes on us for whatever reason then you must say your sins mayl come back on you. Why not? Sickness comes on us and some die from it so why not our sins?!

Thankfully we can say”The blood of Jesus Christ, Gods Son cleanses us from ALL sin. 1 John 1 v 7
But there is not one verse that says “The blood of Jesus Christ Gods son cleanses us from ALL sickness”

Even some of the healing preachers of today ware glasses. By your teaching Jesus died for poor eye sight as. So where is their faith? “Come and get healed from cancer and I will pray for you but I dont have enough faith to get my eyes healed” !!!

I am all for healing and seeing people healed by the power of prayer in the name of Jesus. We must contend for healing but accoring to James 5 v 14 if any one is sick he should call the elders of the church and pray over him and anoit with oil and the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well. We do not ask anyone to pray over us for forgivness of sin (unless we are a Catholic) so why do we need any one to pray over us for healing if its obtained the same way as forgivness of sin?

God is full of mercy and compassion but we have all known some wonderful Christians who have been very ill and died dispite prayer and declaring life over them.

If it was as easy as receiving forgivness from sins which bring us into the blessings of God and free from eternal punishment which is far more important than being healed, why are so many Christians sick and even die?

Even the great healing evangelist of the past have all died from a illness or sickness they said Jesus had died for!!

Some died from heart attack, cancer and even old age which is a sickness or illness you die from.

My mum died from a heart attack at 83. She gave her life to the Lord at 14 and according to you I should have told her as she was dying that Jesus had paid the price for her here heart attack and receive healing from it. She was barely concious and had to have oxygen. You might say it was her time to die but you say Jesus died for that heart attack. So if we all claimed healing on our death bed none of us will die yet the Bible says”Its appointed to men once to die and after death the judgment” Hebrews 9 v 27

Is this the message you really want to tell people? Because that is what you are saying

You say “In God’s mind, every Christian is free from any form of sickness” So from your interpretation you will never die. How can you? No sickness not even the effects of old age will come on you because in God’s mind you are free from any form of sickness. How old are you? Unless Jesus returns you are going to be a very very old person!! If you do die you will say there will be no medical evidence that you died. But why will you die as there is nothing to make to die from???

As I said I am all for healing the body mind and soul through the power of the Lord Jesus and prayer but not on the basis that He died to obtain it. People were healed long before the work of the cross. God answeres faith based on a true understanding of what His word says not how we want to interpret it.

He gives us understanding and wisdom. To belive how you interpret the scripture means that we never die but that scripture says it is appointed once to to die and we die from either an illness or being killed.

Your interpretation does not fit the Word.

    Every blessing in your journey.

  3. Lazarus Says:

He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? (Romans 8:32 NKJV)

-Since Jesus healed all the sick people who came to Him, he is still surely in business now. He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.
-the smaller blessings (healing & prosperity) are contained in the greater one (salvation).
-Elijah and Enoch are two OT prophets who did not die. Sarah was not getting old, in she was in OT too. In NT, no record so far, but the book of Acts are still opened. Paul and Peter are saints but they are still human. We should focus our eyes on Jesus, not them.
-when Peter walked on water, no one has done that before. He just fixed his eyes on the Lord, and He walked. Perhaps nobody has asked and fixed his eyes on Jesus asking for not getting old like Sarah or taste death like Enoch and Elijah. I believe our probability is better now with Jesus in us.
    – in the dessert, when Israellite was bitten by snake, they just looked upon the broze snake at the pole, picturing Jesus on the cross and they were get healed and not die.
    – He is more than willing to bless us. He is Jehovah Rapha!

  4. Rosalind Says:

According to what God told the children of Israel in Deuteronomy 28 : 1-2 And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments, which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings, shall come on thee and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God.

JESUS told his disciples in Matthew 10:1 And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.
ALL means ALL when they ran into a problem it was because of their unbelief.

Matthew 17:19 Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out?

Mat thew17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
We forget that when sin came into this world sickness and disease was the opposite of health and well being. This is why God told Adam not to eat of that tree.
Genesis 2:15-17 And the LORD God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

JESUS came to reconcile us back to FATHER GOD to reclaim our original state of being. In the Garden of Eden there was no sickness. Life was perverted the moment that Adam eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil.
JESUS preached the KINGDOM OF HEAVEN this is what HE said.
Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Question: Is there sickness in Heaven?
