Jealousy Is Like Cancer In The Bones

30 A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.
Proverbs 14:30 (NLT)

The above is another health tips from God. The first part tells us the benefit of having a peaceful heart. A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body. This means having a peaceful heart is essential if you want your body to be healthy. Conversely, we can also say that a heart that is devoid of peace can lead to a sick body.

What does a peaceful heart means? It refers to the absence of stress. It means we do not allow ourselves to be anxious or worried. We remain calm and in peace at all times. Please note the key word here is “all times”. It is easy for all of us to live with a peaceful hearts in good times but how will you respond when times are bad? Will you get anxious and worried or will you still be at peace and have a peaceful heart. Your response will have a direct effect on your health. It is only when our hearts are at peace, we can be healthy. Therefore, it is our responsibility to keep our hearts in peace in all times especially in bad times.

The next question, how am I going to be in peace when the situation around me turns bad? Can I have a peaceful heart when I am facing a financial crisis, a serious disease, family breakdown or any other disaster?

God will never tell us to do anything if he does not think we have what it takes to do it. This means in his view, we have everything it takes to be at peace at all times. We only need to agree with him. No matter what type of problems you are facing right now, God has already decided that you will win and overcome them.

17No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
Isaiah 54:17 (KJV)

In fact, God had given us a guarantee that no weapon that is formed against us will prosper. No matter how hard Satan or his team tries to harm us, God has decreed that they shall not prosper. They will fail. The financial crisis, health problems, family issue or any other problems that are oppressing you right now will never be able to defeat you because God has decreed that they will not prosper. You are going to win and all your problems will be over. The only and the hardest thing to do when we are in a crisis is to keep believing that we have what it takes to overcome it. We may be called for battle but we are destined to win.

The only way these problems can overcome you is when you choose to dwell in unbelief and give up. If you do that, you will not have a peaceful heart. Your heart will be in turmoil. You will not only be defeated by the problems, you will forfeit your health as well. However, should you choose to believe in God, your heart will be at peace at all times even when things go wrong. You will defeat your problems and win.

The second part of Proverbs 14:30 says jealousy is like cancer in the bones. Jealousy is bad for health. What causes jealousy in the first place? We get jealous when we see other people enjoying good things that we wish we have but we don’t. Both jealousy and greed come from the mentality of scarcity and unbelief. When we are in a jealous or greedy mode, we are basically telling God that we do not believe he will honor his promises in prospering us. We are telling God that he is a liar. What do you think will happen when you don’t believe God will give you what you ask for? Answer: you will not get them. Jealousy is unbelief. It blocks our ability to receive what we ask God for and causes cancer to our bones.

Therefore, when you feel like being jealous of something, you must realize that your faith is being blocked. When that happens, you will not be able to have what you want. If you are poor, you will remain poor. If you are sick, you will remain sick. The only way out is to stir up your faith. Read the Bible, listen to faith messages, pray, confess your prosperity and do whatever it takes to restore your faith. Jealousy cannot last when it is exposed to the light of faith.
