No Weapon That Is Formed Against You Shall Prosper

16Behold, I have created the smith who blows on the fire of coals and who produces a weapon for its purpose; and I have created the devastator to destroy.
17But no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue that shall rise against you in judgment you shall show to be in the wrong. This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord.
Isaiah 54:16-17 (Amplified)

If there is ever such a thing called “Word Of Faith Doctrine”, I suspect the above passage is one of the best candidate. It sums up quite well on how we are set apart from the religious people. While we do not ignore the presence of trials in our lives and neither do we pretend they do not exist, we do not allow these trials to oppress us. We believe our God is greater than all our trials.

In Isaiah 54:16, the “smith who blows on the fire of coals” and “the devastator” are referring to the same person, Satan. God admitted responsibility in creating Lucifer even though he did not create him to be a devastator. Lucifer chose to turn into Satan and rebelled against God. Subsequently, Satan and his team of demons have been attacking us. They have been stealing, killing and destroying many things that belong to us.

10The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).
John 10:10 (Amplified)

However, God is still taking responsibility over the acts of those rebels. In Isaiah 54:17, he give us a guarantee that no weapon that is formed against us shall prosper and every tongue that shall rise against us in judgment we shall show to be in the wrong.

Let us look at the first part of the promise – no weapon that is formed against us shall prosper. The first impression I get is, there will be weapons formed against us. Many of us can see our finances, health, family, success or loved ones being attacked by the devil. If you search through the internet, you can see many religious websites spreading lies about us. These are weapons that Satan had formed against us. Satan’s intention in attacking us is to destroy us or at least our faith because our faith is dangerous to him. However, God has guaranteed us that no weapon that is formed against us shall prosper. This means they will fail.

In other words, no matter what attacks you are facing now, God has prejudged them and decided that they have no power over you. In his view, you have what it takes to overcome all your problems. So, if you are saying that your problem is too big or tough for you, then you are calling God a liar. A Christian who gives up in the midst of a trial is insulting God. It is like telling God, “I don’t trust you. Your promise on no weapon that is formed against us shall prosper is a lie.” If you don’t trust God, whom can you trust? Who can you turn to for help? Religious people?

The problem with religious people is they don’t provide answers. The only thing they can do is to spread lies and find faults on Christians who live in faith. If Benny Hinn is to pray for 100 sick people and 99 got healed, the religious people will ignore the 99 who got healed and concentrate on the one who is still sick. Then they will use this to prove what they want to prove. They will say things like “Health and Wealth Gospel doesn’t work.”

Guess what will happen if you are sick and you believed in their lies? You will not attend Benny Hinn’s meetings. You would have missed an opportunity for your healing. You will not believe God when he says no weapon that is formed against you shall prosper. Will you get well for believing in those lies? Of course, not. When we are in trials, we need to look to God for deliverance and believe in what God has promised that no weapon that is formed against us shall prosper. If you are sick, tell your sickness “You shall not prosper.” If you are poor, tell your poverty “You shall not prosper.” As long as you continue to believe and don’t give up, you will overcome all your problems. Why? God promised that says no weapon that is formed against us shall prosper and he is not a liar.

The second part of God’s guarantee says every tongue that shall rise against us in judgment we shall show to be in the wrong. We shall triumph over every accusations, lies and slanders the enemies are throwing at us. No matter what sort of accusations the devils and their counterparts in the religious groups are throwing at us, God is telling us that we shall show to be in wrong. I like the King James Version on this part.

17No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.
Isaiah 54:17 (KJV)

Looks like the King James Version is harsher. It says we shall condemn our accusers and slanderers.

The second part of Isaiah 54:17 in New Living Translation says, “This [peace, righteousness, security, triumph over opposition] is the heritage of the servants of the Lord [those in whom the ideal Servant of the Lord is reproduced]; this is the righteousness or the vindication which they obtain from Me [this is that which I impart to them as their justification], says the Lord.”

The term “ideal Servant of the Lord” refers to Jesus and the “servants of the Lord” refer to us, Christians. It lists down our heritage from Jesus. They are peace, righteousness, security and triumph over opposition. Through Jesus, we have peace, we have his righteousness by faith, we are secured and we shall triumph over opposition that comes to us. It emphasized that our righteousness is from him. This is because our righteousness is by faith and not works.

When we rely on our righteousness by faith, we shall have peace and secure against every attack from the devil. No matter what the oppositions are, we shall triumph over them. This is our heritage.
