11 “O storm-battered city, troubled and desolate! I will rebuild you with precious jewels and make your foundations from lapis lazuli.
12 I will make your towers of sparkling rubies, your gates of shining gems, and your walls of precious stones.
I love the above passage. God is telling a ruined city that he is going to rebuild it. He is going to restore it. What come to your mind when you see the word “restore”? I guess many will think of returning something into a state before it was damaged or when it was new. However, God has a different idea. His idea of restoration is not just getting back to original condition. His restoration means getting better than the original condition.
In the above passage, God promised to restore the city using precious stones. Isn’t he overdoing it? That is our God. He is not only generous, he exceedingly and abundantly generous. What does this mean to you? To me, this means there is always hope. No matter what kind of troubles I am in, no matter how much I have lost, my God is not only capable of returning all that I have lost, he will even give me more.
How much is more? Based on the above passage from the Bible, it must be a lot. Think about this. Cities at that time were built with stones and wood. Yet, when God restore it, he used precious stones. Building a city with precious stones? Is he out of his mind? Even rich people don’t do that.
The only explanation is he must be very rich and generous. It is his nature to over bless us. He doesn’t hold back when he comes to bless us. His prosperity for us is overwhelming.
20Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,
Just remember, no matter how big your troubles are, God can handle them and compensate you for it
You may be facing the greatest battle in your life right now. You may feel like you are losing this fight. You may have lost a lot of money and missed a lot of good opportunities. You have been knocked down again and again. You are in ruins. You are like a ruin city. You are beginning to doubt whether you can ever survive this battle, let alone winning it.
If the above situation fits you, I have the Word of the Lord for you. Don’t give up. Your restoration is coming. When God has finished restoring you, you will have more than you had before the battle. You will be richer, healthier and have greater peace the way you never had before. All you have to do is keep believing and don’t give up. You have to settle in your heart that giving up is not an option. You will need to meditate on the Word, confess it, fill your mind with God’s thoughts and do whatever it takes to keep believing. Victory is just around the corner.
God will restore your city. When he does, he will not use timber and stones. He will use precious stones. Start rejoicing.
