5 Lot, who was traveling with Abram, had also become very wealthy with flocks of sheep and goats, herds of cattle, and many tents.
What comes to your mind, when you see the word, “infectious”? I am sure many will think of disease. When we know someone who has an infectious disease, we will try our best to stay away from them because we don’t want to be infected with the same disease. So, to put in simply, if you want to be infected with something infectious, stay close to the carrier of that thing. If you don’t, stay far away.
The good news is prosperity of God is also infectious. The above verse tells us about the fortune of Lot. He became very wealthy. (Not just wealthy but very wealthy.) Why? The only reason given is Lot was traveling with Abram. Think about this, Abram was the one with the covenant with God. Abram was the one who was declared righteous by God. Abram was the one who received the promised of God on having descendents as numerous as the stars in the sky. Lot has no part on any of this.
Yet he became very wealthy. His secret of becoming wealthy? Just stick to Abraham, his uncle. In the later part of the story, Abraham and Lot had to go separate ways because both of them were too rich and they have too many live stocks that caused disputes among their employees. That was when things went wrong for Lot. Lot was captured and had to rely on Abraham to rescue him. In the end he lost all his assets when God rained fire and brimstone on Sodom and Gomorrah.
He should have stick to Abraham instead.
Here is another example.
27And Laban said unto him, I pray thee, if I have found favour in thine eyes, tarry: for I have learned by experience that the LORD hath blessed me for thy sake.
Laban was an idol worshipper. He did not have much moral character either. He cheated and lied to Jacob. Yet God had blessed him with riches. Laban himself knew that the blessing of God did not come because of him but because of the presence of Jacob. Jacob was the one with the blessing of God. Laban was just a free loader. This story tells us that the blessing of God is so infectious that even pagans can receive them if they know who to stick to.
Let us have another one.
2And the LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
3And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
4And Joseph found grace in his sight, and he served him: and he made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
5And it came to pass from the time that he had made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, that the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake; and the blessing of the LORD was upon all that he had in the house, and in the field.
6And he left all that he had in Joseph’s hand; and he knew not ought he had, save the bread which he did eat. And Joseph was a goodly person, and well favoured.
The above passage tells us that Joseph was a prosperous man because God was with him despite the fact that Joseph was a slave then. This prosperity was so obvious that even his pagan and idol worshipper Egyptian master saw it and benefited from it. The Egyptian master may be a pagan but that does not mean he is dump. He took full advantage of God’s blessings on Joseph by putting Joseph in charge on everything in his household. I call this maximizing asset yield. He would probably say, “I don’t really understand what is so special about this Hebrew slave of mine called Joseph. What I can see is whatever task I assigned him to do, prosperity flows in from that task. I am no fool. So, I have decided to put him in charge of everything I own.”
Don’t you wish your boss said the same thing about you?
In the later part of this story, the Pharoah did the same thing. By putting Joseph in charge of the whole Egypt, Egypt became the most prosperous and powerful nation in the region.
So, how can we benefit from these examples? All the heroes in the above example have one common ground. They have the blessing of God. Abraham has the direct blessing of God while Jacob and Joseph are the seeds of Abraham. If you are a christian, the Bible says you too are the seed of Abraham.
29And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Galatians 3:29 (KJV)
We are in the same position as they. We christians are carriers of God’s blessings. We have the potential to be in the same position as they were. All we need to do is to establish our faith. Spend quality time with God, meditate and confess his Word because he is the source of our blessings. Only then will God’s blessings on you to be so obvious that employers around the world will compete with each other to employ you with any terms you want. If you are a business owner, everyone will want to do business with you because they can see the blessing of God in your life. Anyone associated with you will receive some of it.
However, this principle can also work the negative way. If you stick around with people who talk negative, you too will be infected. Let me clarify. I am not saying you should stay away or stop talking to negative people. A huge majority of the people on this earth belongs to this category.
What I am saying is when you are in their company, be on guard. Do not allow their negative views to stick to your mind. They will probably talk about how tough life is, the threat of terrorism, the rise in oil prices, the sub prime crisis and all other things that will make life even more difficult. When you hear that you should tell yourself in your heart that your God is greater than all these crisis. He is more than capable of protecting you from the terrorists. He can prosper you beyond the threat of high oil prices and sub-prime crisis. He is above and beyond whatever crisis the world throws at you.
Instead, you should determine to spend more time with positive people – Christians who believe in the prosperity of God instead of religion. This is one of the reasons I set up this blog. I want to create a community of faith christians around the world in which we can encourage each other and infect each other with the blessings of God in our lives. In this way, I believe we are going to see tidal waves of prosperity coming into our lives.
Another recommendation I would like to make is to be a partner with a successful faith ministry. In doing so, you will be in position to share in the blessing in it. As I shared before, I am a partner of Jerry Savelle Ministry International. Whatever the blessings of God is on this ministry, I am in position to have the same blessing.
“What if I don’t have the money for partner contribution?”
They have no minimum contribution. You can even start with $1. Jerry Savelle had shared that a poor woman wanted to be his partner and can only afford to send him $1 per month, which she faithfully did. Years later, her daughter went to Jerry to tell him that by the time her mother died, her property has become a prime real estate. So the daughter became a very wealthy woman, all because of the $1 per month contribution.
So the choice is yours. What do you want to be infected with? Establish relationship with the carrier.
