Our Prosperity Confirms Our Testimony About Christ

5For in him you have been enriched in every way—in all your speaking and in all your knowledge—
6because our testimony about Christ was confirmed in you.
1 Corinthians 1:5-6 (NIV)

Does the above verses shock you? When I was in my previous religious church, I cannot imagine how a faithful christian can be rich. My mind was poisoned with the religious ideas that christians should not aim for riches in this world. Yet the above verses says otherwise.

God is telling us that we have been enriched in every way in all our speaking and all our knowledge. This tells me that God wants me to prosper in every area of my life. The primary means of this prosperity is through my speech and knowledge. This means I have been given the knowledge on how to make a lot of money, how to live a healthy life, build a happy family, increase my faith, love God and all other riches.

“Where is this knowledge?”

Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Joshua 1:8(NIV)

It is all there in the Bible. All we need to do is to use it to bring the prosperity out of it. According to the above verse, we must confess it, meditate on it and consequently carefully do everything in it. Then our prosperity and success will come.

“What if it doesn’t work?”

Then either you or God is lying. There is no middle ground in this. If the Bible does not work on you, the reason can either be you are not using it correctly or God is lying. I choose to believe in the reliability of God.

1 Corinthians 1:5 used the term “speaking” and Joshua 1:8 starts with “Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth”. Both refer to confessions. Reading the Word silently is not enough. We need to speak out. It is called “confession”.

This could be the reason why the religious groups persecute us with names like, “Name It And Claim It Gospel”. As for me, they can go ahead with whatever persecution they can think of, the bottom line is God delivers his promises. I can get results by obeying God, not religion.

1 Corinthians 1:6 tells us our lives of prosperity confirms our testimony of Jesus. Isn’t this logical? Jesus will look attractive to the world if christians live in prosperity and success. They will say, “Actually I don’t care about this spiritual stuff but I see so many christians live in health and wealth. I want the same privilege. This is why I want know more about this Jesus.”

Imagine the opposite scenario. Will you be interested to find out more about Jesus if every christian you see is poor and sick? I won’t. I would have think of this Jesus as a money sucker and a disease giver. Worshipping him will make me poor and sick. I will avoid him like a plague.

In conclusion, if you are really interested in attracting people to Jesus the first thing you need to do is to be attractive yourself. Live the life that God to wants you to live. God wants you to live a life of prosperity. Open the Bible, read it, confess it, meditate in it and do what is written. You will be prosperous and have good success.

Thanks for that encouragement. Sometimes standing on God’s word can seem lonely and at times gets discouraging because anymore it seems so many people calling themselves christians attack what God has said in His word.

It is important to for Christians to stick together. I have written a recent article on iron sharpens iron.
